This vintage 5x5 Persian kilim is a mid-century Jajim-style flat weave that hails from the Shahsavan tribe.
On the Design:
Jajim Kilims are known for their take on the panel weave style, in which tribal weavers combine multiple pieces into square rugs like this. Shahsavan rugs, too, are a celebrated style among curators today, known for their rich and personal style even among tribal rugs of similar repute.
This particular Kilim enjoys stripes and geometric patterns with rich red, navy blue, beige-brown and orange tones. It's an exemplary work of intricate detail, yet also a comfortable square Kilim of versatile size and pleasant repeat.
Condition:
This mid-century Persian Shahsavan Kilim further enjoys good condition for its age and origin. Handwoven in wool circa 1950-1960.
