Some varied patina and loss of ormolu finish on the topside surfaces. At some point in the 20th century, the top candle cup of each candelabra was electrified and there are three small diameter (13/64") holes described above in each candelabra to accomodate the wire. All trace of the wiring, except for the three small holes is now gone. less

The candelabras … more For sale is a pair of original signed 18th-19th century two tiered Louis XV Baroque cast bronze candelabras. The candelabras originally had an ormolu finish as evidenced by the finish on the underside. See the underside photos showing the brighter gold finish. The ormolu finish on the topside has worn off with cleaning over time. Each candelabra is signed on the underside of the base with the impressed name and address "Delarue 168 R. Vielle Temple." Rue Vielle Temple is a very old section of Paris that was lined with artisan shops in the 1700-1800s. The underside of each candelabra base is also embossed with the raised molded number "227" and the raised molded initials "B.D". See the photos. Each candelabra stands 21 5/8 inches tall. Because they are hand made, the arm widths of the two candelabras vary. On one candelabra, the arm widths are 14 1/8" and 13 5/8". On the second candelabra, the arm widths are 13 1/4" and 13 1/8". At some point in their lives, someone electrified the top candle on both candelabras. Hence, there is a small diameter (13/64") hole for the wire in the top vertical stem; in the leaf (photo 11) below the top cup; and in the bottom of the top cup. These 3 holes are barely noticeable and do not detract from the beauty of these original French masterpieces. These are original Delarue pieces and are not pieces "after" Delarue or in the style of Delarue. less
