This is a large vintage camphor trunk. A Japanese, mahogany and camphorwood lined chest, dating to the Art Deco period, circa 1930.
Exceptional craftsmanship and figuring accentuates this generous coffer
Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout
Select stocks present fine grain interest and rich russet hues

Stout lid with broad crown moulding opens wide for easy access, resting upright with brass chain stay
Lidded candle box to the interior a pleasingly traditional appointment
Delightfully clean, natural camphorwood interior presents beautifully
Good proportion to the interior lending itself to use for decorative shipping purposes
Dressed with a pair of shaped brass lock escutcheons to the front fascia —keys absent
Substantial drop handles in natural brass to each end, mounting upon oval backplates
Stands upon a strikingly decorative set of ogee bracket feet accentuated with relief foliate carvings
