Wonderful examples of Loewy's mixed Material work, both vintage medical carts having off-white laminate tops that resemble textured linen, richly figured walnut wood, aluminum, steel, and deep plastic bin style drawers. Similarly styled matched pair (not identical), one having a chest of three drawers, the other a chest of two drawers, rising on tubular steel legs, ending in the original casters. Retaining original partially illegible label. Made in Indiana, United States; circa 1950
Raymond Loewy was a legendary French-born American Industrial designer who achieved fame for the magnitude of his design efforts across a variety of industries. He was recognized for this by being featured on the cover of Time magazine, October 1949. Some of his most notable work was the interior design of the Saturn Rocket Capsule, NASA Applo and Sky Lab, US Air Force One livery, Concorde airliner, Studebaker automobile, Greyhound Scenicruiser, designing Streamlined locomotives, Coca-Cola vending machines, the Shell, Exxon, TWA and former BP logos, and somehow even more.
