A French 1925-1935 art deco pendant chandelier in nickel plated solid brass or bronze holding a signed bowl by Sabino. Model #4645. This famous Sabino Waterfall shade was made in three sizes. This is the largest of the three with a diameter of 20 cm (7,88") and a height of 28 cm (11,02"). A wonderful shade in clear frosted molded-pressed glass. The pendant has a total drop of 99 cm (39 inches). I can shorten it on request.
The pendant light is in excellent condition. The mount has its original 90 years old nickel finish. Of course, it shows some wear and turned mat over the years. The fixture is rewired with an American standard socket.
Marius Ernest Sabino (1878-1961)
was an Italian-born Parisian who attended L’Ecole National des Arts Decoratifs and the Beaux Arts de Paris. After which he took of the maison Maes Damon & Cie. Reselling and restoring lighting in a classical style. Sabino experimented with glass and by 1925 he had created his own chemical formula for opalescent glass. And became one of leading figures in French art deco during the interbellum.
