A 1930's architectural salvage French sailboat weathervane. It was recently discovered at an Vintages market in Normandy, France and is filled with old world charm. The large weathervane has been manufactured from iron and steel and features the form of an Atlantic fishing boat. It has been painted white with blue and red accents. It proudly flies the French tricolor flag and has been named "L'Amitié" (Friendship). The rudder moves, the sail appears to be catching the wind and the rigging details all help to bring this piece to life. What a wonderful example of nautical folk art.
The sailing boat is supported by compass points with initials for the French directional points:
N = Nord (North)
S = Sud (South)
E = Est (East)
O = Ouest (West)
