A beautiful French 1930 art deco pendant in nickel plated solid brass holding a bowl in clear frosted moulded-pressed glass by Noverdy the well-known glass factory in Dijon France. The chandelier has a height of 44,5 cm (17-1/2") and a diameter of 35 cm (13,7 inches). Three quitte similar versions of these bowls with stylized art deco roses were made. A 30 35 and 40 cm wide one. You can find pendants with the 30 and 40 cm bowls in my other listings. Note the beautiful canopy that makes a perfect match with the design of the bowl.
The shade is signed Noverdy France Deposé on the rim. It is very good condition. I have replated and patinated the fixture and it comes newly wired. The chandelier holds a US standard base socket.

NOVERDY - Verrerie des Vosges : René & Jean Drouhot
In 1924 the businessmen from Dijon father and son Jean and René Drouhot purchased Verrerie des Vosges. A glass factory in the Moselle based villages of Hoffmuhl and Lutzelbourg. In 1925 Jean and René Drouot also took over the société anonyme des Verreries de Dijon. Which was a glass factory founded in 1893 producing tableware. They renamed it Nouvelle Verrerie de Dijon. The lamp shades that were produced in their plants are often unsigned. Sometimes signed Noverdy (for Nouvelle Verrerie de Dijon). And a few models were signed Verrerie des Vosges. Sometimes we can see the signature Noverdi on acid-engraved bowls or vases. In 1928 a certain monsieur Jean Noverdy won a price at an exhibition. The home address of this price winning fantasy figure was the house of Jean Drouhot. For the rest there is not one file or register where the name (jean) Noverdy shows up.
