A stunning French 1935 art deco chandelier in nickel plated solid brass by Hubert Petitot holding a beautiful bowl in rose pink frosted molded-pressed glass. The 'bronzier' Alexandre Petitot started his company in 1878. Around 1917 his son Alexandre Hubert took over. Together with Hettier & Vincent they became one of the largest producers of French art deco lighting in the 30s. The chandelier on offer has a large bowl with a diameter of 40 cm. Partly frosted partly transparent the thick glass shows a geometrical pattern made in deep relievo. The canopy is signed Petitot and has the AP foundry mark as well. The Petitot bowl is unsigned. This model was made for Petitot by Muller freres. The total height of the chandelier is 70,5 cm. So it’s suitable for a high ceiling. If you want I can shorten the mount.
The pendant is in excellent condition. As you can see on the pictures the shade is a bit spotty here and there. It is no color deviation in the glass but due to uneven sandblasting. It’s hardly visible and does not distract with the chandelier in place. I have re-nickeled the mount. And it is rewired with an American standard socket.
