We are pleased to offer this pair of early 1900's hand crafted and polished black enameled Chinese Cloisonné trinket keepsake boxes. Gifted back in the day to keep one's tobacco fresh due to their, ornate detail, metal lining and fitted lids. They have beautiful floral, gold fretting and scalloped detail with turquoise blue lining. One is cylinder with tight fitting domed lid. The other is a rectangle footed box with hinged top.
"Cloisonné is a way of enameling an object, (typically made of copper) whereby fine wires are used to delineate the decorative areas (cloisons in French, hence cloisonné) into which enamel paste is applied before the object is fired and polished."
