My parents brought back from Java beautiful original Water Colors. The title is written in pencil at the bottom left … more My parents brought back from Java beautiful original Water Colors. The title is written in pencil at the bottom left of the picture. This says, "Island in Canton River". The upper right hand corner in pencil is the number 2 of the series. This one is not signed. The pictures that are signed and dated were painted in 1904. This most likely was painted in 1904 as well. The background of this picture has an outcropping of small islands, hills and boulders behind the aqua colored river. There is a boat (junk) on the river at the left with two people on it. There is a small floating buoy on the right in the river. The sky has some fluffy clouds and is reflected in the many aqua colors in the river. This scene give a very serene feeling to the viewer. less
