It has a pierced or perforated pattern which is very ornate and was originally intended for holding fruit or bread. However, it could also be used for decorative purposes or holding jewellery / trinkets/ candy etc. The basket is made from solid cast brass and was produced in the 1960s. It has a beautiful patina from age and is inspired by classical design ideals. It would have been made israel and to the bottom of the bowl there is a scene from the "last supper" and the words jerusalem. It is signed and marked wainberg on the bottom. Measurements: l 34.5cm x w 18cm x 6.5 cm h. less
