Description: This basket is a survivor. Distinguished and beautiful, this basket is a creation of Sitzendorf Porcelain circa 1890. Its floral … more This basket is a survivor. Distinguished and beautiful, this basket is a creation of Sitzendorf Porcelain circa 1890. Its floral encrusted style was heavily influenced by Japanese wares of the day and there is a not so subtle reference to the Matsunoke style of glass, patented England's Stevens & WIlliams and later amplified by Frederic Carder and Steuben. This basket, bearing (worn) gold trim and embellishments on its handle is a bone white porcelain, encrusted with applied leafy branches and roses in pink and white.

It is 8" wide and stands 6" tall. IT is over 120 years old and bears the Sitzendorf mark used by the Company from 1884-1902. It is historically important work in a notable Dresden style. While it stands in amazing condition, given its age and rather vulnerable construction, there has been some minor decoration loss, as one should expect.
