HENRI MOUYNET & DEGUÉ
A wonderful French art deco pendant in nickel plated solid brass or bronze and molded-pressed glass. Made around 1930. The thick heavy bowl is signed H. Mouynet. Henri Mouynet was a producer of bronze and forged iron lighting fixtures. He had a large company in Paris working mainly in a neo-classical style but he made lamps sconces and chandeliers in modern (art déco) style as well. In 1926 he built a huge building at 11 rue Etienne Marcel prolongée (nowadays named Roger Verlomme street). After the crisis he was forced to sell it. H.Markhbeinn who had a business importing and distributing Bohemian glasses from Eastern Europe bought the place in 1937.
Several model shades in pressed glass are known that are signed H.Mouynet. Some models like the one of this light fixture were made for Mouynet by Degue others by Charles Schneider.
Made in molded-pressed glass the shades were frosted by acid and polished by hand to create glossy highlights. The pendant is in excellent condition. It has a height of 45,7 cm (18") the bowl has a diameter of 35 cm (13,78"). I have re-nickeled and patinated the authentic mount. The fixture is rewired and comes with a US standard socket.
