It appears to be in original condition with no evidence of any alterations or even polishing of the brass. All of the brass frame was originally coated with lacquer over the polished surface which is still observable today. Has a lovely aged warm antique patina over much of it and would hate to alter what age has so masterfully enhanced its overall appearance. Will leave whether or not to polish up to the purchaser.
