About Jack Hooper
Born in Los Angeles in 1928, Hooper was an American painter, muralist, sculptor, printmaker and art educator. As a young artist he was drawn to the vibrant scene of Mexico and "The American College South of the Border." His time in Mexico City during the early 1950's, was a period of intense artistic and political dynamism for Hooper; influenced by the fathers of Mexican Muralism (Rivera, Orozco, and Siqueiros). Hooper return to California in 1956 and continued his studies at University of California, Los Angeles. less
