Handsome silver-filled bombe box with scrollwork decoration on the sides and lion legs terminating in bun feet. The makers mark SF along with the crossed arrows indicates American-made and silver-filled, not to be confused with silver plate which is an extremely thin layer electroplated onto a base metal. Silver-filling is a process involving fusing a heavy layer of silver to a layer of a base metal.
This bombe biscuit box is in very good original condition with wear consistent with age and use. There is some scoring to the front cartouche.
