The lithograph has a dynamic and dramatic design format
The black Japanese typography, of varied font styles, is printed vertically, upon one-third of the image, against an irregular, white, brick wall background.
The other two-thirds of the image is a captivating image of Katz's wife, Ada, in a bold red coat and hat, her sultry red lips dominating the close-up, cropped portraiture, a distinctive stylistic trademark of a Katz portrait.
Katz's works tend to pop visually, through his use of bold, minimalist color, vast single color backgrounds, cropped body imagery, and his off-center positioning of his subject matter.
The original canvas is a towering, oil on canvas, which he painted in 1984.
