"I Go Here - Says the Fork / Spoon" (c. 1930s)

This is SUCH a cute plate! A little girl sits on a stool, feeding her teddy bear in a high chair. On the left handle is '"I go here" says the Fork.' On the right handle is '"I go here" says the Spoon.' The heavy china (ceramic) body is surrounded by thick gold trim and a gold band around the center; the wording is also in gold, which sparkles on the creamy body. The maker is the Salem China Company of Salem, Ohio, and it was distributed by the International Silver Co. The back mark also has a patent number, which dates to 1932.

The plate measures 9 inches wide across the tab handles and 7.25 inches across the center. It is in very good condition, with no chips, cracks, fleabites, or crazing. The decorations are richly colored and there are just a couple of light scratch marks on the rim. Even the gold trim is very solid and intact.

The back side has a gold mark for "Made for | International Silver Co. | U.S. Design Patent 88343 | By The Salem China Co." There is also a gold letter "V" at the top right of the mark.
