During his following 10-year employment, he designed the Serpent and the Tourbillons vases, two of Lalique’s most sought-after pieces. His ensuing career included stints at Verlys, Daum, and Lorrain. D’Avesn’s designs and work, highly prized by collectors, stands near or at the top of French glass design.

Now it has an almost-equally fabulous shade signed Lorrain, undisputedly another D’Avesn design. They’re very happy together, and you will be entranced by their combined beauty every time you flick the “on” switch. A hi-lo switch has been added to the line so that you can enjoy the lamp at half-power or full.

The base has a small scuff mark on it, pictured, an “aide-mémoire” of the original shade as it hurtled to its destiny, compliments of a football tossed in the owner's living room. Both the shade and the base are signed, the former "Lorrain" and the latter "D'Avesn."

Dimensions: about 16 inches high, about 15 inches (the shade) across. The base is about 8 inches in diameter. See less
