Ceramic art boat bowl by San Antonio, Texas potter Harding Black. (1953-2004) Black taught classes at the Witte Museum early in his career and later opened his own studio on Broadway. He was well known for his glazes and was heavily influenced by Chinese pottery. This boat shape bowl has a white cream glaze with oil spot black organic designs. The edge, sides and bottom are an unglazed tan color.
The bottom is signed and dated 1953.
This early piece of his work are hard to find and extremely sought after.
