Beautiful reproduction chair from 20th century, bearing brass plate True Grand Rapids Cabinet Makers Certified M-11874 - which issued from GR's furniture manufacturers guild members. This may indicate it was made by The Macey Company between depression era and when the Guild ended 1967, but Macey ended business in 1940.
A bergere without springs but with hand stuffed and sewn horsehair pad as cushioning in seat - the rest of padding-to-frame is cotton - true old world materials and technique for this exceptional chair inspired by European and English furniture making.
Low Interventive Upholstery Repair: Bargello woven jacquard Flamestitch fabric in such good condition, I didn't want to fully remove this lovely fabric - that's for the buyer to decide, but I did replace sagging platform of original horsehair pad with new firm webbing then reset the buttons that also help keep those natural fiber stuffings in place.
Replaced single cord trim, added new bottom cloth. This chair is ready to ship and be enjoyed! less
