Spectacular oil on canvas depicting a still life of fruit by Roberto Díaz de Orosia. Artistically known as Díaz de Orosia, this Spanish painter and sculptor was born in Asturias in 1948, and his works can be found in private collections as well as in various national and international exhibitions. His painting is always figurative, with strong impasto and vivid colors. The technique is fast, with a loose brushstroke that also leaves a great material load on the support.
with origins in antiquity and very popular in Western art since the 17th century, the still life gives the artist more compositional freedom than other pictorial genres. The great Caravaggio (1573-1610) was one of the first artists to depict still lifes with an awareness of pictorial work, but there were many who made use of it at some point in their careers. This work is an example of how the genre is still maintained today and how modernity has affected it.
Díaz de Orosia was self-taught in the artistic field, and began with the charcoal technique. His first collective exhibition took place in 1966, in the Caja de Ahorros de Asturias, together with the group Chamicín, formed by Urbano Cortina, Néstor F. Molina and Pereda. That same year he traveled to Madrid, where he attended classes of drawing from life at the Círculo de Bellas Artes. In 1973 he held his first exhibition, at the Botticelli Gallery in Gijón, starring landscape works. Two years later, in his new exhibition, he incorporated the human figure, which from then on became a constant in his career. His work as a poster artist is also noteworthy.
