Offered is a charming English pottery pitcher with silver resist-lustre decoration of stylized flowers and leaves, and a lovely cockatiel, on a creamware base. The handle is decorated with a lustered stripe down the middle. The underside is flat and glazed, on a raised foot rim. This piece dates from 1910 and is in excellent antique condition with just very minor rubbing of the silver lustre on the handle.
Leeds and Staffordshire were the main centers of production for resist lustreware. This type of jug was made for everyday use, and is possibly a milk jug.
This piece measures 6.5 inches wide (including handle) and is approximately 5.5 inches tall.and 3 inches wide at the base. It is watertight and would look lovely with your favorite garden flowers. Please see all of the photos. less
