The applique has been embroidered with bats and peaches around a central lotus or peony flower. The petals are outlined with a thin border of gold-coached threads.

The applique was attached to a round black silk edged with a brocade ribbon with red flowers on a blue background. The frame is a gold-tone aluminum frame with a cream color mat. The back is a heavy red card stock. It has a twisted wire cord for hanging.

I purchased this in 1980 in Bellingham, Washington.

MEASUREMENTS

22 ½” (57.2 cm) tall x 22” (55.9 cm) wide x 1” (2.5 cm) thick. Weighs 6 lbs 13 oz (3100 g)

CONDITION

The threads show very little fading and remain tight. There is wear to the silk at the tips of the blossom. The embroidery was not secured perfectly on the mat, so it slide down a little bit many years ago. It was this way when I purchased it in 1980. There are some spots from foxing on the mat and spotting on the card stock on the back. There is a scrape on the top edge of the frame.

Please note that any marks you see in the photos are reflections from the glass covering the front. I was unable to eliminate all reflections.
