Super cool vintage Mid-Century Modern straight out of the space-age, futuristic looking ceiling hung light fixture from the 1950s. The ceramic glazed ball is punctuated with a series of different sized round holes. When lit, the holes create a galaxy like decorative effect. The bottom of the ball is also provided with a round opening to allow the light to function as a task light for a working surface. The bottom opening also provides easy access to replacing the single type “A” light bulb. The unglazed interior of the ceramic ball is provided with a plastic insert for diffusing the light and concealing the lamp holder.
The surface of the ball is a combination of red glaze with a stippled black dot pattern. The pendant light is supported from a heavy-duty encased wire that is provided with two plexiglass clips that in turn can be simply hung from a ceiling hook. The light is controlled with a fully working original Circle F Bakelite Inline Rocker Toggle ON/OFF Switch. The hanging wire is 10-feet long and has an end plug which can be conveniently plugged into a wall outlet and does not need to be hard wired. If desired, the end of the plug can be removed, and the light fixture hard wired.
No marks were found so it cannot be determined who the original manufacturer was.
