I would consider this more of a history book, than that of a dictionary. It has wonderful information and data … more I would consider this more of a history book, than that of a dictionary. It has wonderful information and data of the world, its population, its resources, its nations, as they were back in the mid 20th century.
So interesting to see how things have shifted, how populations have grown, how nations have changed their names, how flags that were in existence then are no longer, and although the book is obviously in French, it can be appreciated by non French speakers. The charts, the graphs and its beautiful illustrations, some in color, some in black and white, can be admired and studied by all.
So whether you are a francophile or a history buff, or just a lover of books, this would make a great addition.

Its spine and cover are in excellent vintage condition. The pages, as expected, have yellowed appropriately for a 60 plus year old book, but none are torn, or ripped. The original owner did sign their name and dated their purchase in one of the opening pages, which I think only adds to the charm of an old book. Who was that person? Where did they live? What made them buy this book?What became of them? Fascinating to imagine.
