Crowned with a diadem around a head of hair held in a top bun. with half-closed eyes looking down in compassion, the face displays a hieratic serenity.

The Boddhisattva is one who devotes himself to following the path indicated by the Buddha and who strictly observes the Buddha's discipline in order to help other sentient beings to awaken while progressing himself towards his own final awakening which is that of a Buddha.
