Unique table lamp handmade in the 1970s by artist Jette Hellerøe at Axella studio, Denmark. The lamp is made from stoneware and decorated with abstract geometric figures and glazed in an expressive glossy glazing. The lamp retains the original cotton shade. Stamped with "Axella" and signed by the artist. While Hans J. Wegner, Kaare Klint and Finn Juhl led the way for the success of Denmarks dominance at the field of modern furniture production Danish arts and crafts was also flourishing. The most well-known names are probably Silversmith George Jensen, Ceramist Axel Salto and Woodworker Kay Bojesen, but despite Denmark's modest size, there were a multitude of small workshops with arts and crafts that produced high-quality objects to everyday life. Much of it was sold directly from the workshops, but also more established shops such as "Den Permanente" and "Illums Bolighus" in Copenhagen exhibited and sold works from these workshops in the 1940-70s.
