Fiandra is a project by Vico Magistretti put into production by Cassina in 1975, seating elements with simple lines and whose name evokes the "flat country", its solid businesses and its precious fabrics, transferring the idea of solidity into comfort of the seats and the preciousness in the variety of coverings ranging from classic canvas to leather, wool and velvet. The armchair, like the sofas, is made up of modular elements which, fixed together thanks to a metal bracket screwed under the base, make up linear and corner configurations. The basic elements, armchairs with or without armrests (right or left) are available in two widths, while only the armchair with two armrests and the coordinated pouf cannot be fixed to the other elements. The cover of the down cushions, fixed by means of zips, is removable.
Pay attention!
The configuration of the sofa is modular and therefore the actual measurements depend on the desired composition.
Cassina Spa is an Italian company operating in the contemporary furniture sector, founded in 1927 in Meda by Cesare and Umberto Cassina.
In the 1950s, Cassina switched from artisanal to serial production, adopting the logic of industrial design. A change also induced by the commission for furnishings for the interiors of large cruise ships. In addition, some of the company's best-known products took shape during this period: chair 646 and chair 699, known as the "Superleggera", both designed by Gio Ponti.
In 1963 Vico Magistretti joins the company team of designers, creating the Carimate armchair.
Ludovico "Vico" Magistretti (Milan, 6 October 1920 - Milan, 19 September 2006) was one of the most important Italian designers, architect and urban planner. His clean and essential design has characterized and inspired the world of creating furniture for the home, office and company throughout the second part of the twentieth century. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
