Making skilled use of the abbreviated commercial imagery that was later employed by the pop art movement, these signs have a similar deconstructed look. Painted on tin and nailed to their original painted wood frames. With their limited text and bold colors and shapes, these signs have a definite carnival art look and were likely used in that context.
