Description: Set of three (3) twin duck form water droppers. Mandarin ducks were a popular symbol of marital happiness and fidelity … more Set of three (3) twin duck form water droppers. Mandarin ducks were a popular symbol of marital happiness and fidelity dating back to the 15th and 16th century China. Each pair of ducks appear to be swimming side by side, faces turned slightly toward one another, the beak of one pierced to form a spout. Vessels such as these would be sculpted in the form of birds, animals, or humans and used to dispense water during the ink making process.

These replicas imitate traditional water droppers from the Ming dynasty and are in excellent vintage condition. All are stamped, and details on the face and wing plumage of each have slight differences, indicating that they were hand painted.

When viewed from the side, each item is 6"L x 5"H x 5"D.
