This Val St. Lambert "Imperial" pattern crystal serving bowl or centerpiece bowl is clearly marked on the underside with the etched Val St. Lambert hallmark. The Belgian fine crystal manufacturer Val St. Lambert was founded in 1826 in an abandoned abbey by two young Frenchmen, Kemlin and Lelievre. In 1828 it became a Societe Anonyme and King William I was one of its stockholders. Today they remain one of the leading manufacturers of fine crystal in the world and are suppliers to his Majesty King Albert II of Belgium. The "Imperial" pattern has long since been discontinued by the company, making is quite collectable. Whether the style is formal or sleek contemporary, this is a heavy and substantial piece is perfect for foyer tables, dining tables and coffee tables.
