Offered is a rare late 18th Century glazed milk pitcher from the town of Annecy in the Savoie region of France. This whimsical provincial piece is decorated with stylized flowers and leaves on a terracotta base. This pitcher is in excellent antique condition with wear commensurate with age. This type of pitcher was a household staple in provincial French homes. There is a small shallow chip to the rim (please see photo) and some glaze chips and losses. The pitcher has a faint antique odor - possibly of milk. This pitcher is should be used for decorative us only, and is waterproof. It would make a charming vase for your favorite summer garden flowers.
The pitcher measures 5 inches tall, 4.5 inches in diameter at the bottom, and 6.5 inches from the end of the handle to the tip of the spout. Please see all of the photos as they are an important part of the description. less
