Once you have your fern in your planter you won't see the dings or turn the planter around on the bowl. I did lightly clean the planter in some areas, with a small amount of brass polish and left most of the older patina. This is a very light structure because the legs are hollow and bendable, making it easy for shipping and carrying. less
