Khes` is a floor spread and bed covering traditionally hand woven. Khes evolved centuries ago, during the Mughal period, to meet the demand of a cotton blanket for spring & Pre-winters. For generations women residing in the villages of Punjab have woven Khes as a part of their wedding trousseau, to take to their future homes as part of their “Dowry”. With bold, harmonic, geometric and imaginative color pattern; it is a requisite as a coverlet while resting.
This particular piece is antique from Sind/Punjab from 19th century. It has a double weave pattern done by hand on a wooden loom with traditional motifs. It remains cool in summer and warm in winters. These are reversible throws with different color and designs.
