Original photograph from the photographic department at the National Gallery of the UK, London. The National Gallery began photographing their collection of objects in 1919. In 1939 they began to record the process of cleaning paintings. This photograph shows "Pietà" (Workshop of Rogier Van Der Weyden, c. 1465). The photo is stamped "National Gallery Photograph Not to be Reproduced" and "Before Cleaning". The painting was acquired by the Gallery in 1956, thus, this photo shows the painting in its original state on or around 1956. This is a very rare and unusual item. The photo is 9" x 11.375".
The image is in very good vintage condition. The paper is warped as shown in the last two photos. Creasing to paper at lower right. Please examine photographs closely.
