Seemingly conceived as pure architecture, the pilasters articulated at the side of the piece create a smooth turned edge beneath the chest’s canted corners, providing a pleasing transition from the chest’s front-curved face. Figured flame Mahogany and ebonized trim on the chest’s graduated three-drawer face enhance this chest’s design. Modern in appearance, this chest draws from German neoclassical tastes of the 19th Century.
