Rare to find late Qing Chinese Textile..
This piece was originally embroidered so it could to be sewn into an Chinese purse ie evening bag... 20 inches long and 7 inches wide
It would have been folded at the mid section and the sides would have been sewn together....
that way both front and back of purse would have embroidery in the correct position...
the embroidered bird position represents the mans rank in civil organization/sociaty.
Definately from a wealthy family of high standing.
