Mid-century modern Murano sommerso glass bowl by Flavio Poli (Italy, 1960s). Made of thick blue and yellow glass. Extremely decorative. Quite heavy (1.4 kg). Perfectly works as a small bowl, vide poche/catch-all or as an ashtray. Can be used as a display piece on any table. Height: 2.8''; width: 6.7''; depth: 5.9''. Very good vintage condition. Some minor tiny air bubbles within the glass and barely visible flea bites.
"Sommerso" (Italian for ''submerged'') is a technique developed in Murano in the 1930s which became very popular in the 1950s/60s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly caused by a clear layer. less
