This trinket box is from Spain, more specifically from the city of Toledo where 24k gold is inlaid into the darkly oxidized metal background. It is typical of Toledan craftsmanship and referred to as Damascene.
This particular trinket box was purchased in Spain in 1970, and is part of a collection of trinket boxes being offered for your consideration in my shop that were collected over a span of 20 years, from the 70s to the 90s.
Its hinge and snap lock are in fine working order. The box itself has no dents and is in age appropriate condition.
