A beautiful brass figure called "optimist / pessimist", model #4059, designed by Carl Auböck back in 1957. A very charming object, which can be positioned in two ways, as an optimist or pessimist. Handmade of solid patinated brass by Werkstätte Auböck in Vienna / Austria. Partly polished, fully stamped and marked. This is a handcrafted piece; each piece and finish will differ slightly. Small nicks on the surface are evidence of the handmade production process and should not be considered defects. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
issues arising from misattribution
