It has been created in … more An original antique oil painting by the French artist Pauline Peugniez dating from the 1940s. It has been created in a naive symbolist style in oil paints on stretched canvas. The original art portrays the coronation of a woman with a floral wreath. She is surrounded by ladies in waiting. In the distance is a castle with a knight on horseback. The artist has used a palette of cool Mid Century tones of blue, pink and stone. The painting has been signed by the artist on the lower left corner. It has been mounted in an ornately decorated frame with an hanging ring attached to the reverse side.

Pauline Peugniez (1890 - 1987) was a French painter, student of Maurice Denis, known mainly for her intimate scenes and her participation in the revival of sacred art (especially stained glass) during the interwar period. less
