Description: Midcentury modern era line drawing of a man peering over a newspaper or book who has been joined by his … more Midcentury modern era line drawing of a man peering over a newspaper or book who has been joined by his cat curled cozily in his lap. Either pencil or charcoal on off-white paper. Dated on reverse 1946 and signed M. Henry. Drawing was sourced from a French flea market vendor in the south of France. We love the fluidity and openness of this sketch that is merely suggestive of the subjects, rather than showing them in explicit detail.

Displayed in a 1950s period oak frame that has been painted black, with a white mat and under glass. As with many older frames, we note some fine gaps in the corner joints, not detracting and not affecting the stability of the piece, mentioned for accuracy's sake only.

Overall dimensions measure 12.25" tall x 10.25" tall. Mat opening view area measures 7" tall x 5" wide. Work including mat is a standard 8" x 10" piece, allowing easy frame substitution if so desired. less
