An uncommon signed Art Nouveau-period French figural spelter table lamp with art glass shade and marble stage, done in the manner of L & F Moreau, Julien Caussée, or Ernest Rancoulet. Circa 1890s
Exquisitely sculpted pair of expressive and exuberant female figures in flowing dresses hold aloft bouquets or flower-ringed candles. They flank an ornate oak and beech leaf-embellished lamp post. Decorated with red ochre enamel and patinated bronze-effect finish. Topped by a colorful confetti art glass shade. Sits on a dark green marble slab with crisp white veining.
Base was the following maker’s marks: on top, foundry badge with “FABRICATION FRANÇAISE – PARIS” and “MADE IN FRANCE” encircling a flaming Crucible logo; on back left, embossed with “FRANCE”; on back right, debossed with indistinct signature.
A few tiny spots of wear to finish; very small hole in top of left figure’s head (appears to be from fabrication); rewired in the 1990s. less
