This very comfortable antique ladder back chair was crafted in Normandy, France circa 1940. Built in oak and beech wood and done in the style of Charles Dudouyt, the armchair sits on round turned legs and features two ladders in the back embellished with round finials at the top. The wide and deep seat is upholstered with the original hand woven rush. The country armchair is in excellent condition with a rich walnut patina. The versatile and sturdy low "chauffeuses" chair are meant to be placed close to the fire place to stay warm, but could also be used for occasional seating.
