For the record, in 1827, Petrus Regout created a glass factory, then a pottery producing common earthenware for the local market and from 1834 onwards copied the fine English earthenware, employing British workers and equipment around 1840. In 1870 his sons became co-directors and the company name became N.V. Petrus Regout and Co. His famous brand became Koninklijke Sphinx and finally, and still today, Sphinx. See less
