Description: Charming, impressionist style portrait of a man wearing a red knit cap and smoking a pipe. Oil painting on board … more Charming, impressionist style portrait of a man wearing a red knit cap and smoking a pipe. Oil painting on board with a modern frame. Behind the white foam board that holds the painting in the frame, the back of the painting is painted with it's provenance. This piece was titled “James Patterson” and painted by Charles Lechat in Casablanca, French Morocco on November 11, 1952. Lechat was known for his paintings and illustrations, and he signed his artwork with the year and an encircled cat as a play on his name; because “le chat” in French means “the cat.” This painting has a very unique, lively quality, and the subject is reminiscent of a young Marlon Brando. Would be an eye-catching embellishment to any wall and a great piece for an art collection.
