Amazingly beautiful Country French quarter sawn oak (1/4 or tiger oak) buffet hutch cabinet. Wonderful fine and ornate carving decorates this buffet hutch. This lovely piece has outstanding French basket and floral detailed carving.
The quality of this piece is outstanding as demonstrated in both decorative and workmanship quality.
On the design side: the carving has a floral flair and even a French basket on the top and bottom, stepped out curved front to the bottom buffet, decorative original hardware, cabriole legs, and fluted back plate racks with a plate groove.
Some characteristics show both a decorative element as well as quality of construction: beveled panels on the front and sides and beautiful quarter sawn (tiger) oak was used.
Further elements just show time and effort in the workmanship of it: adjustable shelves on the bottom and upper side cabinets, the top was made to allow for normal wood shrinkage without damage (incredibly rare), dovetailed drawers, and a plate groove inside the plate rack.
It is an original antique piece in the original French rich dark polish finish. Made probably in the early 1900s. This style with slight variations has been made and been popular for hundreds of years.
Height is 83 inch. Width is 75.5 inch. Depth is 21.5 inch
It is an extremely versatile, beautiful and very well made piece of furniture.
