She was a professor at Columbia University, State University of New York and the Rochester Institute of Technology. Nancy Jurs is a highly acclaimed American artist married to noted craftsman Wendell Castle. Her work is in many museum collections, among them the Smithsonian Institution and the Memorial Art Gallery. This piece is signed and dated on the side of the base.
