Description: This early 19th c. mirror is in a fabulous decayed state featuring exposed natural wood and layers of gesso with … more This early 19th c. mirror is in a fabulous decayed state featuring exposed natural wood and layers of gesso with gilding showing through the finish in a consistent manner. Two columns outline a stunning eglomise panel with little to no damage to the interior portion of the art. The eglomise panel features garland and festoons accented with a beautiful blue ribbon detail that appears six times across the panel against a white field. Proudly positioned in the center of the panel is an Eagle Rousant. The darker blue exterior border of the eglomise panel is the only portion that has flaked over time.

The mirror itself is composed of a tin/mercury amalgam which has natural mercury loss around the edges, but retains a very clear reflection across the majority of the looking glass.

This piece is a true "survivor" which has distressed beautifully retaining all of its finest details while receiving an even, and elegant patination over time. It is a lovely piece that is sure to be the "stand-out" in your room or project. less
